All of our leather goods are made from the best vegetable tanned American steer hide we've seen. They're made to withstand years and years of use and abuse, especially if cared for properly.
Our bags and belts are all oiled and ready to use. Wear them out in any weather!
Before we sew, we oil the leather with our own blend of natural oils and local beeswax. Our oil protects the leather, makes it water resistant, and brings out its beautiful, rich color.
We include a jar of our Under the Tree Leather Oil with each bag purchase. If your bag starts to look dry, scuffed, or scratched, it is time to show it some love. Rub the oil into the outside of the bag with a clean cloth (a scrap of old t-shirt works well). You can oil the strap, too (both sides). Let the bag sit in a warm place overnight.
If your belt starts to look dry, scuffed, or scratched, it is time to show it some love. Oil both sides of your belt. Let sit in a warm place overnight.
In years to come, you may use any natural leather oil meant for vegetable tanned leather to care for your bag or belt. We like mink oil and neatsfoot oil.
Depending on use, your bag will benefit from oiling once every few months to once yearly. Treat it like you'd treat a nice pair of leather boots.
Oiling your bag will restore the deep rich color of the leather and will keep it beautiful for years to come. Over time, the leather develops a beautiful patina and becomes a record of your adventures.
